    We asked AECOM to assess all the sites that came forward in the call for sites so that we could understand the environmental impact of any future development. It is an iterative process that will continue until we submit our final plan to Wiltshire Council.

    We did an online survey of not-for-profit and community based service providers to understand if they needed additional space.

    We had many meetings with a range of NHS providers to understand their need for space and found that they wish to have new facilities in the city centre.

  • Churchfields Masterplan Exercise

    We worked with AECOM to prepare proposals how we could help Churchfields be a better part of the city with housing, business and fewer lorries traveling through the city centre. We did online consultations in early 2022.

    We will make necessary changes to our proposed site allocations and then will progress our proposals to obtain outline planning permission (neighbourhood development orders).

    Wiltshire Council will undertake its own consultation on the plan.

    Wiltshire Council will appoint an independent Neighbourhood Plan Examiner who will consider all the documents submitted by the City Council earlier in the year alongside the responses to the Regulation 16 consultation. The Examiner will draw conclusions on whether the plan meets "basic conditions" and whether it can progress to referendum. The Examiner may also suggest changes to the plan.
  • Referendum

    Wiltshire Council will arrange for a referendum to be held in Salisbury where local people will be able to vote on whether to adopt the plan or not. A simple majority will determine the outcome.
